Frequently
asked questions
Listed
below are just a few of the questions that are regularly asked about
Hypnotherapy and Analysis - If you have questions that are not answered
here then make that appointment for a free initial consultation
You will find that this therapy is far from the 'out of control'
experience that some believe it to be. It is simply a way of helping
you to use your own strength of will to deal with
problems in your life.
How
is Pure Hypnoanalysis better than other Talking Therapies
Other talking
therapies, such as Counselling, CBT,NLP, Psychotherapy and any of
the many other therapies available nowadays aim to help you modify
your bahaviour so that you can cope with
your anxiety and live as near to a normal life as possible. While
these are excellent ways to help you manage your anxieties, Pure
Hypnoanalysis will FREE you of those anxieties
completely and permanently by releasing the repressed
emotions that have caused the symptoms..
Are
there any people that can't be hypnotised?
Generally speaking if you WANT to be hypnotised then you CAN
be hypnotised. If you didn't want to be hypnotised then your subconscious
mind would put up so much resistance that there is no way you could
relax enough to go 'into' hypnosis. This really is a compliant therapy
- we are working together I am not going to do
anything 'TO' you, just 'WITH' you
The
only exception to this would be someone with a learning disability
as it would be unethical to make suggestions to someone who is not
able to understand the full implications of those suggestions. The
same aplies to anyone under the influence of alcohol or non prescription
drugs.
Are
any drugs or tablets used?
No - You are completely in control. The purpose of Hypnosis
is to work with that deep state of relaxation to help you release
any anxieties that you may have that could be holding you back.
Will I remember what has happened?
Yes! Most people are surprised to find that they remember all
that happens during the therapy, it is a state of heightened, not
diminished awareness. The most frequent comment that people make
after a session of hypnosis is "I could have opened my eyes
at any time you know, I really wasn't 'under', I just couldn't be
bothered"
So, I'm not asleep then?
No!, simply very relaxed and in control of all your faculties.
In fact you could say that you are more in control
as you can access the deeper parts of your subconscious - parts
that you are not normally aware of.
Are there any causes for concern?
None whatsoever! Hypnosis is a proven therapeutic aid. The only
time that Hypnosis could prove dangerous is whilst driving or using
machinery. You should not listen to a hypnotic tape under these
circumstances.
Can
I speak whilst under Hypnosis?
Yes! And in hypnoanalysis you will be encouraged to do so. The
object of Hypnoanalysis or Psychoanalysis under Hypnosis, is to
bring those 'hidden' worries, anxieties, fears etc to your conscious
awareness so that they can be dealt with once and for all. After
all, your 'conscious' mind knows that you can't come to any harm
from a little house spider.......your 'subconscious' however finds
it very easy to turn that harmless creature into a man-eating alien
monster!
Can
I be influenced to do anything against my will?
No! In fact you would probably be shocked out of the hypnotic
state should such a thing happen. All IAH therapists undergo strict
background checks and adhere to a code of ethics so this needn't
be a worry.
The
purpose of the Free Initial Consultation is to
set your mind at ease by asking ALL the questions you have ever
wanted to ask a hypnotherapist and so maximise the chances of your
hypnotherapy being successful.
